Job summary

SPAR is opening a brand-new store in Grange-over-Sands and is seeking an experienced Assistant Store Manager to join the opening team. You will support the Store Manager in building a successful team, delivering stellar customer service and upholding high operational standards.

As Assistant Store Manager, you will help lead, coach and motivate colleagues to deliver an exceptional in-store experience, working to ensure the deli and fresh food counters operate smoothly and safely from day one.

Responsibilities

• Support the overall day-to-day operation of the store and maintain high standards.
• Lead, coach and motivate colleagues to deliver excellent customer service and store standards.
• Support recruitment, induction, training and development of colleagues.
• Take responsibility for the store in the absence of the Store Manager.
• Ensure the store is well stocked, presented and ready for customers.
• Monitor stock levels, deliveries, stock rotation and waste, taking action where required.
• Support fresh food, deli and food-to-go offerings.
• Ensure food safety, hygiene, cleanliness and health & safety standards are met.
• Follow company policies, procedures and legal requirements.
• Assist with cash handling, till procedures and administration.
• Help manage colleague performance and attendance.

An exciting new SPAR store is opening soon, and we're looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Assistant Store Manager to join our opening team!

Our brand-new store will feature a fantastic fresh food offering, including a brand-new deli counter, alongside everything our customers know and love from SPAR.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a new store from day one, supporting the Store Manager in creating a successful team, delivering excellent customer service and maintaining high operational standards.

As Assistant Store Manager, you'll play an important role in the day-to-day running of the store, helping to lead, coach and motivate colleagues to deliver an exceptional experience for our customers.

Here's What You Can Expect to be Doing

Working alongside the Store Manager, you will:

• Support the overall day-to-day operation of the store, ensuring high standards are maintained at all times.
• Lead, coach and motivate colleagues to deliver excellent customer service and achieve store standards.
• Support the Store Manager with the recruitment, induction, training and development of colleagues.
• Take responsibility for the store in the absence of the Store Manager.
• Help ensure the store is fully stocked, well-presented and ready for our customers.
• Monitor stock levels, deliveries, stock rotation and waste, taking action where required.
• Support the effective running of the fresh food, deli and food-to-go offering.
• Ensure excellent standards of food safety, hygiene, cleanliness and health & safety are maintained.
• Ensure company policies, procedures and legal requirements are followed.
• Support with cash handling, till procedures and the accurate completion of relevant administration.
• Help manage colleague performance and attendance, providing support and feedback where appropriate.
• Monitor and maintain store standards, taking action to address any issues.
• Help create a positive and welcoming environment for both customers and colleagues.

• An experienced retail professional with previous supervisory or management experience.
• Confident leading, coaching and motivating a team.

• Commercially aware and able to understand the importance of sales, costs, stock and waste.
• Confident making decisions and taking responsibility when required.

Previous experience in a retail management or supervisory role is essential. Experience within convenience retail, fresh food or a similar fast-paced customer-facing environment would be an advantage.
