Job summary

Bright Ascension Ltd in Edinburgh is seeking a junior to mid-level Java engineer to work on real space systems. You’ll build and develop Java applications, gain experience across the full software development lifecycle, and contribute to new products in a collaborative agile team.

Ideal candidates have 1–3+ years in Java, is familiar with Spring Boot and databases, uses Git and Maven, and is keen to write well-tested, reliable code. This hybrid role offers flexibility and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• 1–3+ years' experience with Java (or strong relevant experience).
• Understanding of object-oriented programming and clean code practices.
• Exposure to Spring / Spring Boot and databases (JPA, Hibernate or SQL).
• Experience with version control (Git) and build tools (Maven).
• Interest in writing well-tested, reliable code.
