Job summary

Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd. in Guildford is seeking an experienced embedded C software engineer to develop real-time applications for spacecraft mission software.

You will work across ARM targets, using RTOS and standard development processes, with a focus on delivering on tight schedules. The role requires multi-project capability, strong communication, and proactive problem-solving in a hybrid work setting at our Guildford office.

Qualifications

• Several years of embedded C software development in real-time systems.
• Experience with VxWorks, RT Linux, FreeRTOS, or bare-metal environments.
• Exposure to recognised industry-standard software development processes.
• Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Computing, or a similar subject.
• Python and embedded C programming experience.
• Knowledge of CAN, serial, and IP communication protocols.
• Experience with BitBucket/GIT version control.
• Experience with Agile/JIRA development approaches.
• Strong communication and initiative.

Responsibilities

• Develop complex real-time applications to meet customer requirements and interfaces.
• Capture requirements and deliver software within tight timeframes.
• Ensure effective plans are in place to deliver software in accordance with schedule and PA/QA requirements.
• Identify, manage, and communicate risks to development to Projects and Engineering.
• Take part in internal software peer reviews.
• Carry out other activities as delegated.
