Job description
Overview

Our Construction Managers lead on the management of quality, cost and timely delivery of all construction activity carried out through the leadership of Site Managers and on-site resources, and will be responsible for:

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the site construction teams including directly employed operatives within their portfolios to deliver projects.
  • Delivery of construction performance within approved budget and to an agreed time frame, facilitating project construction kick‑off meetings and lead health checks.
  • Responsible for the performance of tier 2 suppliers in relation to Safety, Time and Quality.
  • Approving RAMS ensuring they are appropriate and adequate.
  • Work with the Lead Construction Manager to establish long‑term resource needs, future view on resources and future (labour, plant and materials).
  • Proactively inform or Escalate any shortfalls or gaps in resources against the delivery plan and take appropriate steps to remedy.
  • Ensure all operatives of all tiers have the relevant training, valid accreditations, and training certificates to undertake the required construction activities.
Enabling Phase Activities

The enabling phase starts with identification of the preferred solutions and includes design work, surveys, consenting and any early construction work to enable the main construction phase. The key site activities to plan and manage will include: Ecology surveys, Archaeological investigations & trial trenching, Ground investigations, Engineering surveys, Environmental surveys, Mobilisation and management of temporary enabling phase works compounds, Mobilisation and handover of temporary construction phase works compounds. The enabling phase and therefore roles are for ~12 months with option to extend depending on resource needs.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience of managing operational resources in a construction environment, preferably in the water industry.
  • A minimum of HNC or Degree in Civil or Construction Management.
  • Site Management Safety Training Scheme.
  • Site Environmental Awareness Training Scheme.
  • CSCS Card (black minimum).
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Has a can‑do attitude and enthusiasm to innovate and get the job done.
