About the Role

Are you detail‑oriented, organized, and passionate about contributing to one of the UK's most ambitious water infrastructure projects? The Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) is searching for Assistant Ecology Surveyors to support and enhance our project delivery team.

Responsibilities

• Assist the survey leads with undertaking field ecological surveying, including bats, badgers, ecological clerk of works (ECoW), great crested newts, hazel dormouse, National Vegetation Classification (NVC), ornithology, riparian mammals, river morphology, tree climbing, and/or UK Habs and hedgerow surveys.
• Support the survey leads with pre‑survey organisation and coordination, including TSPA and GoSmart creation, hotel and hire‑car bookings.
• Attend AW inductions, Passport‑to‑Work and pre‑site briefings before site work.
• Collect and upload survey data to field maps during surveys.

Qualifications

• Qualification or equivalent professional experience in a relevant environmental or technical discipline.
• Experience working within teams focused on habitat and BNG deliverables or other technical functions (e.g., bats, ornithology, dormouse).
• Completed training and valid certification for working in water.
• Completed training and valid certification for first aid.
• Excellent health and safety awareness.
• Document production abilities using software such as Excel, Word, GIS, and PowerPoint.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
