Are you detail‑oriented, organized, and passionate about contributing to one of the UK's most ambitious water infrastructure projects? The Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) is searching for an Archaeological Aerial Investigation and Mapping Specialist to support and enhance our project delivery team. What will you be doing as our new Archaeological Aerial Investigation and Mapping Specialist? You will be responsible for the successful production of archaeological aerial investigation and mapping (AIM) to support the delivery of a series of new pipelines, reporting to the SPA Archaeology Discipline Lead. This role will include the review of aerial photographs (current and historic), lidar, photogrammetry and infrared data to identify potential archaeological remains and modern impacts within targeted survey areas. The role will also include transcription of identified potential features in accordance with industry standard and guidance documents, using suitable software and authoring written deliverables.

Responsibilities and Qualifications
  • Produce AIM assessments for two pipeline routes.
  • Work in collaboration with other SAT members and will share updates with the team on a regular basis.
  • Support consultation with stakeholders where necessary.
  • Produce a digital archive suitable for sharing with stakeholders.
  • The ability to use ArcGIS software to produce mapping and datasets.
  • Demonstrable experience of leading and producing AIM assessments for large infrastructure projects in line with relevant current guidance.
  • A collaborative nature who facilitates the sharing of historic environment information across project and delivery teams.
  • The ability to take personal responsibility for supporting programme delivery, particularly in the areas of adopting risk‑based approaches, cost control and programme management.
  • Effective written and verbal communication, with excellent organization/analytical skills.
