An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic Speech and Language therapist to lead the Aberdeenshire SLT team. This post will be working alongside other AHP Leads in Aberdeenshire to support activity in Aberdeenshire and an excellent team of Speech and Language therapists who work in this area across the lifespan. This post will also take lead responsibility for clinical areas of work for Speech and Language therapy across NHS Grampian such as SLT services to the prison and AAC provision. The successful post holder will be expected to take strategic and operational responsibilities for the service and be involved in multi cross system multidisciplinary teams and meetings.
In recent years the Speech and Language therapy service has successfully developed universal and targeted strands of work alongside its individualised services which enable rapid response to referrals and ensure caseload flow. The SLT service has also seen a significant increase in its use of digital platforms and technologies within a variety of settings and this post offers great opportunities in progressing this further. The Speech and language therapists in Aberdeenshire are proactive in supporting ongoing CPD, undertake supervision and also provide undergraduate education to a range of health care professionals and education colleagues.
The successful applicant will lead the Speech and Language service in Aberdeenshire that has a wide ranging clinical remit covering Adult Rehabilitation therapists that provide support for our community Hospitals and community therapy services for adults and Children across Aberdeenshire. Services are provided in an outpatient, domicilary, community hospital and care home setting. The Speech and Language therapists working in Aberdeenshire are well linked to other Speech and Language therapist and clinicians across NHS Grampian and are seen to frequently work with other third sector organisations.
NHS Grampian Speech and Language teams cover the North East of Scotland serving a region from the cairngorms to the North Sea including coastal moray. The ARI hospital site houses all clinical specialties with the exception of organ transplant and paediatric ITU. NHS Grampian provides healthcare for a population of 540,000 with around 40% living within Aberdeen, 40% in Aberdeenshire and the remaining percentage in Moray.
