Main duties of the job

As Community Mental Health Team Manager, you will lead and coordinate amultidisciplinary team to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate care toadults with complex mental health needs. Youll oversee clinical governance,manage caseloads, support staff supervision, and ensure compliance with servicestandards and KPIs. Key responsibilities include service planning, riskmanagement, performance monitoring and fostering strong partnerships withexternal agencies. Success in this role requires excellent leadership,communication, and problem-solving skills, with experience of navigating mentalhealth care pathways. Youll be instrumental in driving quality improvement,empowering your team, and ensuring service users receive the support they needto thrive.

Visa sponsorship under the Health and Care Worker visa route canonly be considered if the prorated salary meets the minimum threshold of £50,300,as required by the UK Visas and Immigration. For this Band 7 role, onlyfull-time positions at the top of the pay scale meet this threshold. Therefore,sponsorship may not be possible depending on salary increment placement andworking hours.

Job responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY

The Post holder will be responsiblefor the effective day to day delivery of integrated community mental healthservices within the designated team area.

The post holder will be responsiblefor the day to day management of resources and staff employed by both SWYPFTand integrated partners with agreed permissions framework to act in conjunctionwith service managers for both health and social services.

The post holder will be expected tohave strong clinical and leadership skills and be responsible for ensuring thedelivery of quality community mental health services.

KEY RESULT AREAS:

Management and Resources

The Team Leaderwill manage allocated resources on behalf of the trust and local authority toensure that fundamentals of care are delivered.

Provide day to daymanagement of all staff within the community team including sickness andabsence monitoring, conduct and performance etc.

Ensure that teamresources are deployed appropriately to meet the day to day demands on theservice.

Ensure service provisionmeets the individual needs of service users and their carers within thepersonalisation, prevention and recovery agenda.

Ensure that the serviceobserves the legal and philosophical requirements of national legislativeframeworks.

Monitor the quality andappropriateness of service provision.

Monitor team budgets andtake measures to ensure that they remain within agreed establishments, alertingthe budget holder of current or expected budget pressures.

In conjunction with thelocal funding agreements, authorise appropriate use of community care budgetsto purchase community care packages which have been developed thorough qualityassessment and care planning process.

Ensure the provision of supervisionand caseload management for team members in line with appropriate linemanagement structure.

Ensure staff managementand appraisal systems are implemented and monitored as required by the trustand local authority.

Ensure that team membersmeet professional and statutory obligations and comply with trust and localauthority policies and procedures.

Ensure that trust andlocal authority performance requirements are met and necessary data iscollected, using electronic information as required.

Ensure appropriate trustand local authority procedures are carried out under the agreed multi agency safeguardingprocedures.

Ensure service user andcarer influence and involvement in planning and evaluating interventions andservices.

Participate in localservice planning and development.

Lead in the recruitmentand retention of staff within the team.

Undertake HR and systeminvestigations and write reports that will evidence the investigation andsupport higher level decision making.

Leadership

The Team Leader will use a range of positive behaviours and leadershipstyles to influence others in the provision of high quality community mentalhealth service, working collaboratively to achieve trust, local authority andservice objectives.

Provide a visible,accessible and authoritative presence to which staff, service users, carers andadvocates can turn to for assistance, advice and support.

Use problem solvingskills and empowerment to resolve issues.

Support staff in thedevelopment of their new ideas, strategies and quality initiatives.

Make recommendations forchange in clinical practice and lead implementation of changes in conjunctionwith team and the general manager.

Take an active role inleading the development of integrated community teams.

ClinicalDevelopmental

The team manager will support and coordinate the clinical developmentof staff and the team in line with current policy, trust and local authorityguidance.

Foster an environmentwhich values and encourages evidence based practice, research, clinical audit, servicedevelopment and evaluation.

Work in conjunction with professionalleads across health and social care to ensure appropriate training and learningopportunities are facilitated for staff working within community services.

Develop / utiliseappropriate networks at local and regional level to develop and promote personalisation,prevention and recovery approaches in community services.

Develop promote andimplement the trusts and local authorities principles of Visions Values andGoals.

Ensure own clinicalpractice is maintained to an advanced level which is up to date with contemporarymental health practice and within own professional discipline.
