Job summary

Carpino Lounge, part of Loungers, is hiring a full-time Sous Chef to join the kitchen team. You will support the Head Chef, lead shifts, and ensure every dish meets high standards of quality across a fast-paced menu.

The role offers progression opportunities within Loungers’ growing national brand. With a 48-hour contract option (or 40-hour contract), you’ll benefit from overtime pay, a bonus scheme, and staff perks from day one as part of a supportive hospitality culture that values development

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar senior kitchen role.
• Strong leadership and ability to coach and develop the team.
• Commitment to high standards of food quality, consistency and hygiene.

Responsibilities

• Lead kitchen shifts with confidence from prep to final plate.
• Support Head Chef and step in during absence to ensure smooth service.
• Maintain tone of high standards on the pass, focusing on quality, pace, and safety.
• Own key routines: prep, stock, waste, orders and handovers.
• Coach and develop junior chefs to improve skills and performance.

What you’ll Do

• Lead kitchen shifts with confidence, keeping service smooth, organised and on spec from prep through to the final plate
• Be the Head Chef’s right hand — supporting day-to-day operations, stepping up in their absence, and helping the kitchen deliver consistently strong results
• Set the tone for high standards on the pass, with a sharp eye for food quality, pace, cleanliness, hygiene and safety
• Take ownership of key kitchen routines including prep and par, stock control, waste, orders and effective shift handovers
• Coach and support the team around you, helping new and existing chefs build confidence, grow their skills and deliver great food every shift
