A leading food service company in Gloucester is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to lead daily kitchen operations at Imjin Barracks. This role involves preparing high-quality meals, supporting the Head Chef, and ensuring food safety standards are met. Location: Imjin Barracks
Hours: 40 hours per week
Pay: £15.72 per hour
Shift Pattern:
Early: 06:30 - 14:00
Late: 12:00 - 19:30
1 in 4 weekends required
Breakfast: 07:00 - 08:00
Lunch: 12:00 - 13:00
Evening Meal: 18:00 - 19:00
We’re currently recruiting an experienced and motivated Sous Chef to join our team at Imjin Barracks, supporting the delivery of high‑quality food for the Defence sector. As a Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Head Chef to manage day‑to‑day kitchen operations, ensuring every meal served is nutritious, well‑presented, and consistently delivered to a high standard.
Supporting the Head Chef in the daily running of the kitchen
Preparing, cooking, and serving high‑quality food across all meal services
Assisting with menu development and the implementation of new food concepts
Supervising kitchen sections to ensure consistency and quality
Monitoring stock levels, ordering, and assisting with inventory control
Maintaining the highest standards of food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness
Ensuring full compliance with Food Handling, Hygiene, and Health & Safety regulations
Leading, motivating, and supporting junior kitchen staff
We’re looking for someone who:
Has proven experience as a Sous Chef or a strong Senior Chef de Partie ready to step up
Holds City & Guilds 706/1 & 2, NVQ equivalent, and a Food Hygiene Certificate
Is passionate about great‑tasting food and high‑quality service
Has experience supervising, training, and motivating a kitchen team
Is reliable, adaptable, and thrives in a fast‑paced kitchen environment
Has a flexible approach to working hours and shift patterns
