Job summary

A well-regarded hotel in York is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to lead the kitchen team. Responsible for creating dishes for various dining areas and events, you will ensure health and safety compliance while managing costs. Ideal candidates should have a proven history in hospitality and a genuine passion for food. This is a full-time position with 37.5 hours per week.

Qualifications

  • Proven work history as a Sous Chef within hospitality.
  • Ideally, some banqueting experience.
  • Passion for food and ingredients, able to create exciting dishes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the kitchen team and manage all aspects of operations.
  • Create and produce dishes for the restaurant and events.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and health regulations.
  • Manage food costs and reduce wastage.

Sous Chef, Hotel, York £33k + tronc

This 4* hotel based in the centre of York is looking for a strong Sous Chef to join the team.

Responsibilities
  • Working as part of a team – leading from the front and managing all aspects of the kitchen
  • Creating and producing dishes across all areas including the restaurant, bar and functions/events
  • Managing and inspiring your team as well as developing and supporting
  • Taking responsibility for the kitchen and service whilst on shift
  • Ensuring all due diligence, H&S and food safety for the kitchen operation
  • Managing food costs, wastage and GP

Working hours are 5/7, 37.5 hours per week

Qualifications
  • An experienced Sous Chef with a proven work history within hospitality
  • Ideally some banqueting experience
  • A good leader and team player – someone who can inspire and motivate their colleagues
  • Genuine passion for food and ingredients, able to cook from fresh and create exciting food
  • An eye for detail and presentation
  • Ability to work within a fast paced, high pressure environment and remain level headed
  • Flexibility – able to adapt when needed
