Responsibilities

The Sous Chef will collaborate with the Head Chef to lead a culinary team that provides nutritionally balanced, comprehensive, high‑quality culinary services that support overall resident wellbeing while staying within budget.

  • Prepare modified diets that are appealing, well balanced, and in accordance with IDDSI guidance.
  • Supervise and direct the work of culinary staff, providing instruction and demonstration to staff on simple food preparation.
  • Understand the principles of safe food handling to ensure all kitchen activity meets the highest hygiene standards.
  • Support all culinary team members in fully understanding the Avery Food safety management system.
Requirements

To be successful in this role you must: live the company values of caring, support, honesty, respect and accountability; hold a relevant catering qualification (City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or NVQ or equivalent); have a minimum of 1 year of catering experience; demonstrate compassion and commitment to delivering high‑quality services to residents; and be able to be adaptive and flexible to cover a range of responsibilities at short notice.
