Job summary

Loungers plc is hiring a full-time Sous Chef for the Sorrento Lounge kitchen. You’ll lead shifts, support the Head Chef and ensure every dish leaving the pass is exceptional.

The role offers a 48-hour contract (40-hour option) with overtime paid, achievable bonus, and real progression opportunities within our growing hospitality brand. Benefits include a 50% food and drink discount from day one, paid overtime, and access to in-house training and development programmes.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Sous Chef or Junior Sous Chef or Chef de Partie ready to take next step.
• Ability to lead kitchen shifts, manage prep, par levels, stock, waste and handovers.
• Strong attention to food quality, hygiene and safety standards.
• Proven track record of working to recipes and plate specifications.
• Capable of supporting Head Chef and stepping up in absence.
• Demonstrates reliability, punctuality and strong team spirit.

Responsibilities

• Lead kitchen shifts with confidence from prep to final plate.
• Support Head Chef and cover during absence to ensure consistent results.
• Maintain high standards on the pass for quality, pace, cleanliness and safety.
• Own key routines: prep, par, stock, waste, orders, and handovers.

What you’ll Do

• Lead kitchen shifts with confidence, keeping service smooth, organised and on spec from prep through to the final plate
• Be the Head Chef’s right hand — supporting day-to-day operations, stepping up in their absence, and helping the kitchen deliver consistently strong results
• Set the tone for high standards on the pass, with a sharp eye for food quality, pace, cleanliness, hygiene and safety
• Take ownership of key kitchen routines including prep and par, stock control, waste, orders and effective shift handovers
• Coach and support the team around you, helping new and existing chefs build confidence, grow their skills and deliver great food every shift
