Job summary

ESPO is one of the UK's largest public sector buying organisations, based in Enderby, Leicestershire. We are seeking a reliable Sorter Loader to join our Goods Out team, responsible for sorting consignments, loading delivery vehicles and helping ensure orders are dispatched accurately.

This is a safety‑critical post, with a requirement to pass medical tests and hold a current stacker truck certificate. You will work a 37‑hour week with alternating shifts and great local access.

Qualifications

• Experience picking and packing or vehicle loading in a distribution warehouse.
• Current certificate for electric/stacker truck, reviewed every 3 years.
• Hold a current driving licence (for vehicle loading).
• Achieve NVQ 2, or equivalent.
• Able to work numerically with weights, volumes and quantities; competent keyboard skills.
• Pass a medical examination for the safe use of equipment.
• Able to lift and carry items up to 25kg.
• Understand weight distribution over axles for safe/legal loading.

Salary:£26,022 - £26,436 (plus 10% shift allowance)

Working Hours:Full Time, Hours per week – 37

Shift Pattern: Alternating Shift Pattern:

Week 1: 6am-2pm Mon –Thurs, 6am – 1.30pm Fri.

Week 2: 2pm-10pmMon –Thurs, 1.30pm – 9pm Fri

About the Role

ESPO is one of the UK's largest public sector buying organisations, supplying a wide range of products and services to schools, local authorities and public sector organisations nationwide. From our 120,000sq ft warehouse in Enderby, we distribute thousands of products daily to customers across the UK.

We are looking for a reliable, safety-conscious and motivated Sorter Loader to join our Goods Out team. This is a hands‑on role where you will be responsible for sorting customer consignments, loading delivery vehicles and helping ensure orders are dispatched accurately and efficiently.

This role is a “safety critical post” and, consequently, subject to random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with our policies and procedures. A copy of our Substance Testing Policy, Procedure and Guidance is available upon request.

About You

To apply for this post, you must be able to evidence in your application how you meet the following criteria:

• Have experience picking and packing or vehicle loading in a Distribution Warehouse- General knowledge of warehouse work and knowledge of parcel delivery service practice


• Possess or be able to obtain current certificate for electric/stacker truck, reviewed every 3 years. Hold a current driving licence (for vehicle loading), Achieve NVQ 2, or equivalent


• Are numerate and able to work accurately with weights, volumes and quantities. Literate, to read paperwork, endorse and write labels, etc. Have “Competent” keyboard skills


• Pass a medical examination for the safe use of electric manual handling equipment.


• Can lift and carry items weighing up to 25kg in accordance with manual handling procedures


• Are methodical and committed to safe working practices.- Understanding of concepts of weight distribution over axles for the safe and legal loading of vehicles.


• Can work flexibly as part of a team.- Methodical, with “common sense and Enthusiastic and Self-motivated. Also have a Positive, with a ‘right first time’ attitude. And must be flexible, to help the organisation meet the needs of customers
