Job summary

Simple Machines in London is hiring a Solutions Architect to design and deliver large-scale, data-intensive platforms for enterprise clients. You will own end-to-end solution architecture, shaping designs, documenting thoroughly, and coordinating with engineers, product managers, and client stakeholders to drive production-ready outcomes.

This hands-on role sits within an established delivery team, requiring strong communication and collaboration across governance bodies and client organisations

Qualifications

• Significant experience as a Solutions Architect on large-scale enterprise platforms.
• Client-facing delivery experience with multiple engagements or programmes.
• Strong ability to align technical and business stakeholders with competing priorities.
• Grounding in distributed systems, API design, and integration architecture.
• Experience with data processing, data warehousing, SQL/NoSQL, and data pipelines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with clear design documentation.
• Software engineering background enabling technical discussions with engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design solutions across large-scale enterprise platforms including APIs and cloud infra.
• Translate ambiguous business requirements into well-documented architectures.
• Present and defend designs with senior client stakeholders.
• Work within governance processes such as architecture reviews and security reviews.
• Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and product managers in Agile delivery.
• Balance long-term design with pragmatic delivery and reusable patterns.
• Contribute to Simple Machines' architecture practice through standards and patterns.
