The role you will play: Translate complex mission and business needs into a clear end-to-end solution architecture. Connect reusable Leidos capabilities, COTS products, cloud services, integration and data approaches into an achievable solution. Provide architecture leadership from early shaping and estimation through delivery assurance and transition.

Primary responsibilities
  • Lead discovery and architecture definition across business, application, data, integration, technology and security viewpoints.
  • Develop solution options, trade studies, architecture decisions, roadmaps and transition states.
  • Define non-functional requirements and assure security, resilience, performance, scalability, interoperability and supportability.
  • Create high-level designs and guide decomposition into engineering work packages and low-level designs.
  • Support estimates and investment cases with architectural assumptions, risks, dependencies and resource needs.
  • Assess reuse opportunities, legacy constraints, supplier propositions and build-versus-buy choices.
  • Engage customer, programme, security, commercial, supplier and engineering stakeholders to resolve design decisions.
  • Maintain traceability between customer outcomes, requirements, architecture, delivery and acceptance.
  • Provide technical assurance during implementation and support controlled transition into service.
Required skills and capabilities
  • End-to-end solution architecture
  • Enterprise architecture methods and viewpoint modelling
  • Secure cloud architecture on Azure and/or AWS
  • Application, integration, API and event-driven architecture
  • Data architecture, analytics and information governance awareness
  • Identity, access, Zero Trust and security-by-design principles
  • Non-functional requirements and architectural assurance
  • COTS, SaaS and legacy integration
  • Option analysis, trade studies, roadmaps and transition planning
  • Bid support, estimation and senior stakeholder communication
Required experience
  • Solution architecture leadership on complex, multi-domain technology change.
  • Experience engaging customers to shape ambiguous needs into feasible solution options.
  • Experience developing architecture artefacts that can be used for estimation, engineering and assurance.
  • Experience balancing mission outcome, security, delivery risk, cost, schedule and maintainability.
Desired experience
  • National security, defence or wider public-sector environments.
  • Cross-domain integration, secure data platforms or mission systems.
  • TOGAF, BCS, AWS, Azure or equivalent architecture accreditation.
  • Product, IRAD, pre-sales or competitive bid shaping.
Success in the role
  • Architecture is coherent, secure, traceable and implementable.
  • Assumptions, trade-offs and residual risks are transparent to decision-makers.
  • Delivery teams receive sufficient guidance without unnecessary prescription.
  • Reusable capabilities and patterns are identified and applied appropriately.
  • Architecture remains aligned from early shaping through acceptance and service transition.
