Solution Architect

£51,400 to £57,500 per annum Hybrid and highly flexible

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Solution Architect to join a growing Digital & Data function within a forward-thinking public sector organisation. This is a newly created role delivering additional capacity within the architecture team as the organisation modernises its technology estate, strengthens its enterprise architecture capability, and transitions towards a cloud-first approach.

The organisation is in the early stages of a significant transformation programme, including moving key services into Azure, reducing reliance on physical data centres, adopting SaaS solutions, and improving resiliency and business continuity. As the first Solution Architect reporting to the Senior Solution Architect for infrastructure and cloud, you will help design and deliver end-to-end solutions across a complex hybrid estate.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver solution architectures aligned with corporate standards
• Shape cloud, infrastructure and hybrid solutions as the organisation moves away from legacy environments
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across Digital & Data, including Project Managers, BAs and Technical Leads
• Produce clear technical documentation, designs and architectural artefacts
• Communicate technical concepts in accessible terms to non-technical stakeholders
• Provide guidance and oversight on technical delivery and implementation
• Support the development of a business continuity approach for wider corporate use
• Contribute to continuous improvement and the adoption of best practice
• Build strong relationships with internal teams, external partners and suppliers

About You

• Solid technical foundation with hands‑on experience delivering solutions
• Strong understanding of Azure and cloud‑first environments
• Ability to produce high‑quality documentation and explain solutions clearly
• Comfortable working across hybrid cloud environments and evolving standards
• Confident engaging with senior stakeholders and translating technical requirements
• Public sector experience is advantageous but not essential
