Reed in Haywards Heath seeks a Solicitor specializing in property law to join our Legal Services team. You will provide expert legal advice and handle property-related matters for the Council, supporting the delivery of the Legal Team's Service Plan and the Council's Corporate Plan.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive with a relevant professional qualification.
• Proven experience in managing property-related legal matters.
• Experience in a local government legal team is desirable.
• Knowledge of local government statutory framework and legislation.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to scrutinise new legislation and manage deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice, representation, and assistance to Council Members and staff, including at public meetings.
• Manage an ongoing legal caseload with a focus on property matters including acquisitions, disposals, and landlord and tenant issues.
• Negotiate and complete property transactions on behalf of the Council.
• Advise on Assets of Community Value, best value disposals, and Subsidy Control.
• Represent the Council in legal proceedings, including advocacy when required.
• Attend statutory meetings and contribute to the structuring of property deals.

• Job Type: Contract (6 Months+)
