Job description
Overview

I am working with a well-established and highly regarded regional law firm to recruit an experienced Wills, Trusts & Probate Associate or Senior Associate for their growing Durham office.

The firm is known for delivering high-quality commercial and private client services across multiple offices in the North East and has an excellent reputation for client care, technical strength and staff retention. This role forms part of a continued investment in, and expansion of, their private client practice.

The Opportunity

You will join a friendly, committed and technically strong Wills, Trusts & Probate team, with the autonomy to manage your own caseload and the support to further develop your practice and profile within the firm.

The Ideal Candidate

This role would suit a solicitor with at least five years’ PQE in Wills, Trusts & Probate, with experience dealing with trust matters and a strong grounding across the full range of private client work. In particular, you should be confident advising on Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Court of Protection matters and estate administration. The firm would welcome applications from candidates who are STEP qualified or part-qualified, or who are willing to undertake STEP training. You will be highly motivated, comfortable managing your own caseload and possess good IT skills alongside strong organisational ability. Excellent client relationship-building and networking skills are essential, as is an interest in business development and working collaboratively with colleagues across the firm’s offices to help grow the wider private client practice.

Rewards & Benefits

The firm offers a competitive salary alongside a flexible and supportive working environment. Additional benefits include a pension scheme, private healthcare and death-in-service cover, together with a firmwide bonus scheme and access to an electric car scheme.

You will also benefit from ongoing career development and opportunities, a competitive annual leave entitlement with an additional day off for your birthday, and office closure over the Christmas period. The firm places real value on its people and regularly provides staff rewards, gifts and social events.
