Job summary

Jobtailor in the United Kingdom is seeking a newly qualified Education Law solicitor (PQE up to 4 years) to handle SEN cases, admissions appeals, exclusions, and university disputes, with advocacy duties in Education Law.

You will liaise with clients, schools, experts, local authorities and the Tribunal/Court Service, manage files and deadlines, and develop drafting and advocacy skills. Full training will be provided if you have limited Education Law experience.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake work in any area of Education Law with focus on SEN cases
  • Handle admission appeals, school exclusions, school complaints, transport matters, and university disputes
  • Liaise with clients, schools, experts, local authorities, and the Tribunal/Court Service
  • Manage files day-to-day in line with quality standards and Lexcel compliance
  • Undertake advocacy in Education Law cases
  • Comply with firm policies, procedures and training
  • Adhere to Law Society standards and etiquette
  • Draft documents and manage files to meet Tribunal deadlines
  • Save and maintain client information in Case Management System
  • Work independently and as part of a busy team
  • Deal with clients in a caring and professional manner by telephone and in person

Job description

  • Undertake work in any area of Education Law handled by the firm, with a particular focus on SEN cases within and outside the First-tier Tribunal (Special Educational Needs and Disability)
  • Handle admission appeals, school exclusions, school complaints, home to school transport matters, and university disputes
  • Liaise with clients, schools, experts, local authorities, and the Tribunal/Court Service
  • Manage files day-to-day in accordance with the firm’s quality standards, Lexcel compliance, and regulatory rules
  • Undertake advocacy in Education Law cases
  • Comply with the firm’s policies, procedures, and training requirements
  • Adhere to the standards of behaviour and professional etiquette expected by the Law Society
  • Draft documents and manage files and diaries to meet Tribunal deadlines and limitation dates
  • Save and maintain client information and documentation in the firm’s Case Management System
  • Work independently and as part of a busy team, prioritising tasks and meeting strict deadlines
  • Deal with clients in a caring and professional manner by telephone and in person
Requirements

  • Previous Education Law experience is desirable but not required; applicants without experience will be considered and full training can be provided
