Solicitor/Associate - Family - Newport - 2-5 Years PQE

Location: Queens Chambers, Newport (with flexibility to work from other approved office locations)

Type of Role: Permanent, Full-time

Salary: £40,000 to £60,000

A respected and forward-thinking law firm is seeking a Family Solicitor/Associate with 2-5 years' post-qualification experience to join its established team in Newport. This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven legal professional to manage a varied caseload, contribute to departmental growth, and develop leadership skills within a collaborative and high-performing environment.

The Role
  • Managing a caseload of family law matters including divorce, financial remedies, and children work
  • Supporting fee-earners and contributing to departmental initiatives
  • Liaising with clients, counsel, and other professionals
  • Attending external business development events (target: 1 per month)
  • Participating in team meetings and firm-wide projects
  • Strengthening client relationships and promoting the firm's reputation
  • Ensuring a safe and productive working environment
Candidate Requirements
  • 2-5 years PQE in family law
  • Strong technical and drafting skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Confidence in managing matters independently
  • High attention to detail and professional standards
  • Motivation, organisation, and a proactive mindset
  • Understanding of health and safety responsibilities in the workplace
Desirable
  • Experience mentoring junior colleagues or support staff
  • Willingness to work outside normal office hours when reasonably required
