Job summary

Slater Heelis Limited seeks a solicitor with 3–8 years PQE in criminal law to join its Crime & Regulatory practice in Manchester. You will manage a varied caseload, appearing in Magistrates' Court and supporting Crown Court proceedings, while handling regulatory investigations and professional discipline matters.

The role offers significant responsibility from the outset, with opportunities to develop advocacy skills and build lasting client relationships within a supportive, high-quality team.

Qualifications

• 3–8 years PQE in criminal law.
• Ability to manage own caseload with minimal supervision.
• Confident appearing before Magistrates' Court and supporting Crown Court proceedings.
• Excellent communication and client care skills.
• Organised, resilient and commercially minded.
• Experience in regulatory law or professional discipline is advantageous but not essential.

Slater Heelis is seeking a talented and ambitious Solicitor with between 3 and 8 years' PQE to join its successful and growing Crime & Regulatory practice. This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer looking to take the next step in their career within a supportive and dynamic team recognised for its expertise across privately funded criminal defence and regulatory work.

The Opportunity

You will handle a varied and stimulating caseload, advising individuals and businesses on a broad range of matters including:

• Magistrates' Court proceedings
• Crown Court matters
• Regulatory investigations and enforcement action
• Professional disciplinary proceedings
• Police station representation
• Advisory and pre-charge work
• Complex and high-profile cases alongside senior team members

This is a client-facing role offering significant responsibility from the outset, with the opportunity to develop your advocacy skills and build lasting client relationships while working on high-quality matters.

About You

We are keen to hear from solicitors who:

• Have 3-8 years' PQE gained within criminal law
• Are experienced in managing their own caseload with minimal supervision
• Are confident appearing before the Magistrates' Court and supporting Crown Court proceedings
• Possess excellent communication and client care skills
• Are highly organised, resilient and commercially minded
• Thrive in a fast-paced and demanding environment

Experience in regulatory law, professional discipline or related areas would be advantageous but is not essential.
