Job summary

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Duration: 3+ months

Working Hours: Mon - Fri, 09:00 - 17:00, 37 Hours per week

Pay Rate: £23.17 Per Hour

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide legal advice and support to various departments within the council.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents and contracts.
  • Represent the council in legal proceedings and at tribunals.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with external legal partners when necessary.
Person Specifications

Must Have:

  • Qualified solicitor with a valid practicing certificate.
  • Experience in local government law or public sector legal work.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with NEPO systems and procedures.
  • Familiarity with the Newcastle area and its legal landscape.
  • Additional specializations in specific areas of law.
