Job summary

Civic Recruitment Limited is seeking a Solicitor to join a Local Authority’s Adult Social Care Legal Team on a 3 month contract with fully remote working.

The role focuses on Court of Protection cases and providing expert legal advice on welfare and property and affairs issues for Adult Social Care services. The successful candidate will manage caseloads end-to-end, draft documents, and collaborate with Counsel, Social Workers, and relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Fellow of CILEX eligible to practice in England and Wales.
• Extensive experience in Adult Social Care Law.
• Proven track record in handling Court of Protection cases.
• Capability to manage a full caseload independently.
• Experience in providing legal advice to Local Authority client departments.
• Proficiency in preparing court documents, applications, and bundles.
• Strong drafting, advocacy, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting.
• Experience in performing administrative and case management duties as needed.

Responsibilities

• Oversee a caseload of Court of Protection cases from start to finish.
• Draft applications, witness statements, pleadings, and related documents.
• Prepare court bundles and manage all aspects of case preparation.
• Coordinate with Counsel, the Court, Social Workers, and other relevant parties.
• Represent the Local Authority at hearings when necessary.
• Provide legal guidance to Adult Social Care teams.
• Advise on statutory duties and responsibilities under applicable laws.
• Support safeguarding and complex care cases.
• Deliver practical, solution-oriented legal advice to client departments.
• Assist with policy interpretation and legal risk management.
• Independently manage a diverse and complex caseload.
