Job summary

A leading electronics manufacturer in Basildon is looking for an experienced Soldering Technician to join their Production team. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in hand soldering to IPC standards and a good understanding of PCB manufacturing processes. Responsibilities include hand soldering components, reading work packs, inspecting quality, and maintaining a safe work environment. This role provides an opportunity to work in a modern factory with a strong reputation for quality.

Qualifications

  • Experience and knowledge of soldering to IPC class 2 is essential.
  • Class 3 is advantageous.
  • Experience of working within production of a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Hand soldering of conventional components to IPC standards.
  • Pre-forming components.
  • Reading work packs to determine product instructions and specifications.
  • Inspecting finished work to ensure it meets quality standards.
  • Accurate marking & labelling of products.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

Our client is a leading electronics manufacturer. They are recruiting for an experienced Soldering Technician to be based at their modern factory in Basildon, Essex. With over 40 years’ experience they have built a strong reputation for the on-time delivery of printed circuit boards, PCBAs, box builds, and final assemblies. Experience in soldering including re-work is essential

Job role and scope

You will be part of the Production team in the factory at Basildon. You will primarily work in Second Stage (Through Hole soldering and SMT re-work) and may be required to working in other departments. You will be hand soldering PCBs to defined quality standards so it’s important that you have an understanding of general PCB manufacture & ESD control.

Main responsibilities
  • Hand soldering of conventional components to IPC standards, re-work experience is required for both conventional and SMT components
  • Pre-forming components
  • Reading work packs to determine product instructions and specifications
  • Inspecting finished work to ensure it meets quality standards and resolving defects as necessary
  • Accurate marking & labelling of products
  • Maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
Skills, knowledge & experience
