Job description

Overview

Astute's Renewables team is partnering with a key business and influential player in the global energy market. The company has a vast portfolio of renewable energy assets and a culture that looks after its employees. We are seeking a Field Service Technician / Solar Technician with experience in utility-scale solar, and open to those with large rooftop experience.

Responsibilities and duties

• Reporting to the Area Manager you will:
  • Ensure the best performance of large-scale solar assets
  • Perform operations and maintenance duties across the portfolio of solar sites in Royal Tunbridge Wells and the surrounding areas, with potential travel further for business needs
  • Ensure adherence to all HSE requirements when completing duties
  • Test both DC and AC systems, look for faults and trace issues
  • Conduct firmware updates and use computer systems to identify issues with assets
  • Gain Authorised Person status after training
  • Consistent inspection, maintenance and testing of the systems
  • Look for trends and use data analysis to spot common issues and suggest improvements to operations
  • Occasional assistance with tasks such as solar panel cleaning, some ground maintenance and site CCTV
  • Occasional work away from your patch/area and be flexible to help when the business needs this

Qualifications

• Level 3 in electrical installations as a minimum
• 18th edition wiring regs
• Ideally you will have C&G 2391 or equivalent
• A HSE qualification is desired
• Experience within a solar or BESS environment is hugely preferred
• UK driving licence is essential

Personal skills

• Flexible with location and travel outside of your patch on occasion
• Experience liaising with third parties and troubleshooting
• Experience reading, writing and assessing RAMS is hugely beneficial
• Someone who wants to learn and make a genuine difference

• A starting salary up to £40,000 depending on experience
