Job summary

PT Renewables is seeking an experienced Solar Service Manager to own the aftersales and service operation in Leicester. You will be responsible for the P&L, the team, and the strategy from day one, reporting directly to the Managing Director.

Ideal candidates will have a commercial mindset and be comfortable discussing fault resolution, system performance, margins and renewals with clients. This role offers hybrid working in Leicester and real growth potential within renewables.

Qualifications

• Several years in service, aftersales, operations or contract management within renewables, engineering services, solar or field service.
• Strong commercial instinct focusing on margin, retention and growth, not just delivery.
• Experience coordinating teams, subcontractors, or field operations.

Responsibilities

• Own the aftersales P&L including revenue, margin, contract performance and cost control.
• Lead a team comprising Service Desk Manager, Technical Manager and Service Contracts Executive.
• Grow the service contracts portfolio across solar PV, storage, heat pumps and biomass.
• Build relationships with key accounts through structured reviews and opportunity spotting.
• Oversee service delivery, scheduling and field engineer deployment whilst meeting SLAs.
• Work with the MD and senior leadership to shape commercial strategy.

Solar Service Manager | Leicester - Hybrid | Permanent | up to £65,000

PT Renewables is partnered with a well-established UK renewable energy - over 20 years deep into solar PV, biomass and low-carbon heating installs, with a substantial asset base to show for it.

We’re looking for an experienced Operations/Service Manager to look after their Solar Assets and help ensure additional growth within the business.

The Role

You’ll take full ownership of the aftersales and service operation: the P&L, the team, the strategy, all of it. You’ll report directly to the Managing Director from day one.

If you’ve been doing bits of this job already - service delivery, technical sales, contract management, account growth - but never had the full remit to pull it all together, this is that role.

What you’ll be doing:

• Owning the aftersales P&L - revenue, margin, contract performance, cost control, etc
• Leading a team that includes a Service Desk Manager, Technical Manager and Service Contracts Sales Executive
• Growing the service contracts portfolio across solar PV, battery storage, heat pumps and biomass
• Building relationships with key accounts - structured reviews, spotting new opportunities
• Overseeing service delivery, scheduling and field engineer deployment, keeping SLAs on track
• Working with the MD and senior leadership, shaping commercial strategy

About you

Someone commercially sharp who’s equally at home in a technical conversation. Ideally, you’ll be able to talk fault resolution and system performance with an engineer just as easily as you can talk margin and renewals with a client.

You’ll likely have:

• A few years’ experience in service, aftersales, operations or contract management - within renewables, engineering services, solar or field service
• A real commercial instinct: you think in terms of margin, retention and growth, not just delivery
• Experience managing or coordinating teams, subcontractors or field-based operations
