Qualifications

Job description
Overview

Astute's Renewables team is proudly partnered with a leading global player in the solar market. The team is focused on the UK market and is looking for a Solar PV Technician / Solar Engineer to join.

Role

This is a field‑based position with a basic salary of up to £50,000 and an attractive benefits package. Large‑scale / utility‑scale solar experience is key to reaching the top end of the salary bracket.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Plan and carry out reactive works across a variety of ground‑mount solar assets
  • Test and inspect electrical systems, trace faults and rectify where possible
  • Work with specialist equipment suppliers to troubleshoot on‑site issues
  • Prepare daily reports on work carried out on site
  • Fault‑find both AC and DC systems
  • Take into account all HSE legislation when carrying out any work
  • Supervise third‑party contractors on site when required
  • Participate in an occasional weekend rota, with additional pay as a result
  • Occasional working and staying away
Professional Qualifications
  • Utility‑scale solar experience or commercial/industrial scale experience
  • Level 3 electrical qualifications
  • Watt‑meter test and inspection grade 2391
  • HVAP (High‑Voltage Apparatus) is desirable
  • Good working knowledge of key industry instruments and testing equipment
Personal Skills
  • Strong fault‑finding ability with a methodical approach
  • Strong understanding of HV and LV power electronics, including transformers and inverters
