Job summary

Sustainable Building Services (SBS) is seeking a Solar PV Technical Manager to lead technical delivery of Solar PV and Battery Storage projects in the UK. Based in Skelmersdale, you will work with project teams, installers and the supply chain to ensure safe, compliant and high-quality installations.

The role requires strong Solar PV knowledge, leadership and at least three years in electrical trades, with domestic PV experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified Electrician (NVQ Level 3, AM2 and 18th Edition).
• Solar PV Battery qualification.
• Level 3 Electrical Energy Storage Systems (EESS) qualification (or equivalent).
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the end-to-end installation process for Solar PV and Battery Storage projects.
• Act as the main technical point of contact for customers throughout project delivery.
• Lead and manage employed installation teams and specialist subcontractors.
• Coordinate project programmes with internal departments and external stakeholders.
• Manage material procurement and supplier relationships.
• Attend site during key installation phases and oversee commissioning.
• Ensure full compliance with MCS requirements and Health & Safety legislation.
• Produce technical handover documentation.
• Act as Sustainable Building Services' designated MCS Technical Person.

Solar PV Technical Manager

At Sustainable Building Services (SBS), we are transforming homes, communities and lives through large-scale retrofit and decarbonisation projects across the UK.As a multi-award-winning, purpose-led main contractor, we deliver energy efficiency and low-carbon solutions at scale across social housing and domestic markets.From Solar PV and battery storage to whole house retrofit, we're committed to improving energy security, tackling fuel poverty and supporting the UK's journey to Net Zero.We take responsibility for every stage of the retrofit journey, delivering compliant, high-quality solutions to PAS 2030, PAS 2035 and MCS standards.We're looking for an experienced Solar PV Technical Manager to lead the technical delivery of our Solar PV projects and help support the continued growth of our renewable energy division.Reporting to the Clean Heat Operations Manager, you'll provide technical leadership across our Solar PV projects, ensuring installations are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.You'll work closely with project teams, installation engineers, customers and supply chain partners to deliver outstanding results while maintaining full compliance with industry regulations.

Essential Qualifications

• Solar PV Battery qualification
• Level 3 Electrical Energy Storage Systems (EESS) qualification (or equivalent)
• Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable

• Testing & Inspection qualification (City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent).

Skills & Experience

• Strong technical knowledge of Solar PV and Battery Storage systems.
• Excellent organisational, leadership and communication skills.
• At least three years' experience within the electrical industry.
• A minimum of two years' experience delivering domestic Solar PV installations.
• Proven project and team management experience.
• Experience with DNO applications, commissioning and MCS compliance.

Salary

Circa £55,000 per annum (dependent on experience) + £5,500 Car Allowance or Company Car

Working Hours

Monday to Thursday, 8:30am - 5:00pm | Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm (1-hour lunch)
