Job summary

WCR Group is seeking a qualified Solar Electrician to join its expanding PV team. You will lead electrical installation, testing and commissioning of Solar PV systems, including battery storage and EV chargers, on new-build and one-off projects.

You will collaborate with in-house roofing and solar teams to ensure safe, efficient installations meeting MCS standards and high-quality workmanship. Relevant City & Guilds/NVQ and 18th Edition expected, with full UK driving licence and CSCS/ECS.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds NVQ Level 2/3 in Electrical Installation and AM2 Test required.
• Experience with Solar PV installations and inverter/battery systems.
• Full UK driving licence and CSCS/ECS card; 18th Edition knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Install and commission Solar PV systems for varying sizes.
• Install Tesla Powerwall 3, EV chargers and related gear.
• Wiring inverters, batteries and AC/DC components.
• Conduct full testing, inspection and certification.
• Fault finding and rectification on existing installs.
• Hand over systems to end users and document with WCR RoofPro App.

WCR Group is a leading roofing, cladding and solar specialist providing complete roofing, cladding and solar solutions for both all the national major housebuilders, mid-size developers and bespoke one-off builds across the southwest.

We are looking to employ a qualified Solar Electrician to join our expanding Solar PV team. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a fast-growing department within an established company, playing a key role in the installation and commissioning of renewable energy systems on new-build and one-off projects.

The Role

As a Solar Electrician at WCR, you will be responsible for the full electrical installation, testing, and commissioning of Solar PV systems, including battery storage and EV chargers.

You’ll work closely with our in‑house roofing and solar teams to ensure every system is installed safely, efficiently, to programme and to MCS standards.

Key responsibilities include:

• Installing and commissioning Solar PV systems from smaller systems to larger battery and EV charger installs.
• Installing and commissioning Tesla Powerwall 3 systems
• Installing and commissioning EV chargers, including Fox ESS and Tesla Wall Connectors
• Wiring inverters, isolators, batteries, and associated AC/DC components.
• Conducting full system testing, inspection, and certification.
• Fault finding and rectification on existing installations.
• Commissioning systems and handing over to end users (one‑off builds only).
• Completing all documentation accurately using our in‑house app system (WCR RoofPro App).
• Maintaining a strong commitment to health & safety and quality workmanship.
• Working both independently and as part of a wider site team.

We’re looking for a proactive, qualified electrician who takes pride in their work and enjoys working in the renewable energy sector. You’ll be representing WCR on live housing developments, so professionalism and good communication are essential. • City & Guilds NVQ Level 2/3 in Electrical Installation and AM2 Test.
• City & Guilds 2391 (Testing & Inspection).
• Proven experience with Solar PV installations, including inverter and battery systems.
• Strong understanding of testing, commissioning, and fault‑finding on solar systems.
• Ability to commission and hand over systems confidently to end users.
• Full UK driving licence.
• CSCS/ECS card.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
• O&M experience
• Inverter commissioning knowledge.
• Experience working on new‑build housing sites.
