Responsibilities
  • Participate in the health, safety and well-being culture of the team;
  • Support liaison with project managers and clients on the delivery of soil and agricultural land components of multi‑disciplinary tenders and projects;
  • Organise and carry out desk studies.
  • Carry out soil surveys, including augering and excavation using hand tools;
  • Assist, as appropriate to grade, with managing the technical and financial performance of projects to meet budgets and deadlines;
  • Support the analysis, evaluation, interpretation and presentation of soil data, including preparing reports and management plans;
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with your line manager, other team members and related land‑based disciplines;
  • Ensure compliance with internal business management procedures, including health and safety and technical quality of all advice and outputs, including self‑check of work.
Qualifications
  • Ideally hold a degree (or equivalent) in environmental science, agriculture or soil science, or have equivalent practice‑based experience;
  • Experience of soil surveying, ideally for agricultural land classification;
  • Confidence to speak to farmers, landowners and land agents, including meeting in‑person;
  • Adaptable and flexible approach to provide time in the field working away from home, including travel/overnight stays and working in inclement weather; and
  • Report writing skills, with experience producing a range of reports and management plans.
