Responsibilities
  • Support the Project Engineering Manager in the delivery of budgeted tasks, bids, installations and support to first line delivery teams through the efficient employment and tasking of systems, hardware and software engineers.
  • Proactively task and monitor the engineering team in accordance with BAE Systems' processes to deliver the contracted deliverables against the agreed schedule as directed by the Project Engineering Manager.
  • Prepare/review engineering estimates and schedules for review by the Project Engineering Manager and/or other parties.
  • Provide support to proposal writing, costing and bidding.
  • Forecast the required resource for each task and update the resource management toolset as directed by the Project Engineering Manager.
  • Provide support to the Project Engineering Manager for the appropriate identification of engineering risks and subsequent analysis. As part of this team, you will provide comprehensive support by coordinating and overseeing the day‑to‑day activities essential for successful programme development. Your responsibilities will include planning, tracking, and managing engineering tasks to ensure they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Ensure all activities align with the project schedule and comply fully with BAE Systems' engineering policies, procedures and governance frameworks. Work closely with engineering teams and other key stakeholders to maintain steady project progress, address issues as they arise and support the consistent delivery of high‑quality engineering outcomes.
Qualifications
  • Good knowledge and experience of software and/or systems engineering principles.
  • Understands how engineering relates to other functions (e.g., Finance and Commercial functions).
  • Ability to collaborate and coordinate activities with other project and teams within TSG to engender a 'one team' approach, e.g., to address resource peaks/troughs.
  • Good knowledge of project management planning tools such as Microsoft Project and resource/forward load planning tools highly desirable.
  • Ability to carry out engineering costing: resource and cost estimating.
  • Experience working with senior level internal stakeholders.

Salary and Benefits

Salary: Up to £57,600 depending on skills and experience.
