Job summary

Matchtech Group is seeking a Software Technical Lead to join a Defence and Security engineering team in Farnborough. You will act as the technical authority for software development across secure digital design and embedded systems, guiding architecture and delivery for government projects.

The role combines hands-on delivery with governance, mentoring engineers and collaborating with systems engineers to meet milestones while upholding high-assurance standards.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in software engineering, technical leadership and the full systems lifecycle.
• Degree in Software Engineering or a closely related technical discipline.
• Strong experience with C and C++ for embedded systems, microcontrollers and RTOS.
• Understanding of software architecture, system integration and design verification.
• Experience defining software development processes, engineering toolsets and quality frameworks.
• Knowledge of engineering governance, design review metrics and high-assurance software standards.
• Familiarity with secure coding practices and technologies such as Rust.
• Proven ability to mentor and develop engineers in a collaborative, technically focused environment.
• United Kingdom sole nationality and an active UK Security Check (SC) clearance, or the ability to obtain SC clearance before starting the role.
