About the Role

We are looking for a Systems Engineer. You will work under the guidance of the System Design Authority and interact very closely with the Software Development and Test teams within an Agile environment.

Integrated into a team of developers and testers, you will be a part of the Systems team who will champion the modelling process and contribute to the delivery of new solutions in the Satellite Communications Domain. You will contribute to all stages of the modelling development lifecycle, engage in retrospective reviews and bring ideas to the table.

How you will contribute to the team
  • Highlight and communicate concerns, results and ideas to team members from a systems design perspective
  • Work with development team to ascertain feasibility of software components, understanding of user requirements and details of the solution
  • Define and contribute to the software system architectural design at a high level using relevant peer review processes
  • Collaborating with software development teams to discuss the high-level architecture, ensuring the team can produce the required software components
  • Working with the Product team to ensure capabilities are captured on the product backlog and aiding them to create the user stories and acceptance criteria
  • Understanding the system aspects of the project and will determine the role of the software components in the solution
  • Working with peer-subsystem teams to ensure all external interfaces are defined and agreed
  • Getting involved in daily operations when needed to meet critical schedules or resolve complex problems
  • Support in the management of cost/schedule
  • Collaborating with other projects to ensure the proposed software solution meets a common set of software requirements for all projects to seek re-usability
About you
  • Passionate about bringing new ideas to the table and questioning the status quo
  • Excellent communication skills, gathering information from internal and external departments
  • Experience of SysML-compliant architectural modelling tools such as Rhapsody, Cameo, Gaphor or similar – we currently use Enterprise Architecture and are happy to train you up
  • Knowledge of software solutions within a software product environment
  • Experience in modelling to capture the system design
  • Familiarity to interpret Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) Diagrams
