Software/PLC Developer

Our client, a growing industrial technology company, is seeking a talented Software/PLC Developer to join their team. You will develop and maintain high-quality PLC-based control and monitoring software for industrial plant and machine systems. The role covers the full lifecycle of control systems, including design, testing, commissioning, operational troubleshooting, and documentation.

This position is ideal for professionals currently working as Software Developers, PLC Developers, PLC Programmers, PLC Engineers, or Software Engineers looking to expand their expertise in industrial automation, process control, and connected systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, enhance, and maintain PLC-based control applications for industrial systems and process control networks.
  • Implement and debug logic for real-time systems, control panels, and industrial automation networks.
  • Translate functional specifications into maintainable, scalable program logic with emphasis on safety and reliability.
  • Lead the creation of connected solutions, telemetry, and remote monitoring tools.
  • Integrate third-party hardware, protocols, and IoT devices.
  • Develop and manage real-time dashboards, alarm systems, and data visualisation tools.
  • Maintain secure and stable IT environments including hardware, networks, cloud services, and governance compliance.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, service providers, and technology partners to deliver tailored solutions.
  • Research and implement emerging technologies to enhance system capability and efficiency.
  • Maintain technical documentation, version control, and compliance with IT governance and security standards.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues in live environments, supporting both local and remote troubleshooting.
Key Skills and Experience
  • 2+ years' experience developing PLC logic and software for plant, manufacturing, HVAC, refrigeration, compressor systems, engine management, conveyer or similar.
  • Strong software engineering experience, particularly with IoT, embedded systems, or industrial automation.
  • Proficient with any PLC platforms such as Siemens TIA Portal, CODESYS, Beckhoff TwinCAT, WAGO e!COCKPIT, and scripting languages like Python/LUA.
  • Proven experience with process control, control system design, and industrial automation networks.
  • Familiarity with networking, routers, firewalls, industrial communication protocols, and cloud/visualisation tools.
  • Skilled in testing and debugging both simulated and live systems.
  • Collaborative, innovative, and capable of working across technical and commercial teams.
  • Passion for technology, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
