We’re looking for a Software Engineering Manager for a long-standing client in the financial services industry. This role combines building brilliant teams with delivering great technology, guiding a talented product engineering team to deliver reliable, secure, and well-designed solutions.

This role bridges vision and delivery, translating strategy into software that makes a difference. It’s about people, purpose, and progress, coaching and mentoring engineers to grow, championing best practices, and creating a curious, collaborative, and commercially smart culture.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a product engineering team to deliver scalable, secure, and high-quality software.
  • Translate strategy into software that aligns with business goals and customer needs.
  • Coach and mentor approximately 5 engineers to help them grow, sustain motivation, and improve performance.
  • Champion best practices and foster a culture of curiosity, collaboration, and commercial awareness.
  • Partner with product, design, and third-party suppliers to solve complex technical challenges and reduce technical debt.
  • Shape architectural discussions and embed automation and quality standards to ensure scalability, performance, and security.
  • Improve ways of working, drive resilience, increase efficiency, and empower teams.
  • Contribute to building technology that serves customers, manages risk responsibly, and meets business goals with innovation and integrity.
What you'll bring (Qualifications)
  • Hands-on leader with deep technical roots and a passion for people; ability to inspire, structure, and sustain teams through complex projects.
  • Experience leading engineering teams, ideally within financial services or a regulated environment.
  • Strong grasp of cloud-native systems, modern SDLC, CI/CD, and software design.
  • Experience across software, data, quality, and platform engineering disciplines.
  • Knowledge of Finova or Apprivo 2 is a real advantage.
  • Collaborative approach to risk and compliance, balancing innovation with control.
  • Genuine interest in new technologies, automation, and ways to make teams work smarter.
  • People-focused leadership: mentors, inspires, and brings out the best in others; understands great engineering is about people as much as code.
Why this role

Opportunity to shape a growing engineering function, influence product direction, and lead initiatives with real impact across the business. Suited to someone who thrives in a fast-moving environment, enjoys a challenge, and wants to leave a lasting mark on how technology is built and delivered.
