Mark43 is seeking an experienced Software Engineer – Universal Search to build and scale the systems behind our universal search platform, enabling fast, secure access to data across RMS, CAD, and analytics products.

You will work on distributed systems, real-time indexing, and modern search technologies to support life‑saving decision making for public safety users, with a hybrid work model in Manchester.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Experience integrating third‑party systems to support search functionality across domains.
• Familiarity with event‑driven architectures using SNS, SQS, or Kinesis.
• Strong AWS services knowledge (Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, S3, ECS/EKS, DynamoDB, Aurora/RDS, IAM, CloudWatch).

Responsabilités

• Led end-to-end system design for a universal search experience across core components.
• Extended platform configurability and connectivity to new data sources with AI-assisted tooling.
• Reviewed PRs for authorization layers and index mappings to improve performance.
• Acted as release manager, coordinating deployments with minimal downtime.
• Delivered feature for permission-aware global search filtering from feasibility to monitoring.
• Mentored juniors, pair-programmed on debugging, managed technical debt.
• Participated in on-call rotation and RCA-driven observability improvements.
