Job summary

Capital Markets Trading in London is seeking a versatile Software Engineer for Trading Analytics to join our small, global technology team. This role covers pricing and risk analytics, data infrastructure, and back-office systems, requiring broad scope rather than deep specialization.

You will build data pipelines and analytics that convert models into numbers used by traders—vol surfaces, PnL, Greeks—and develop high-performance distributed systems.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or another quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • The ability to write clean, maintainable code, supported by some experience developing real-world software.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to learn whichever language or technology a task requires. We use Python extensively, but care more about how you think than what you already know.

Job description

Software Engineer, Trading Analytics

Capital Markets Trading is a global proprietary trading and investment firm with offices in Frankfurt, London, and Chicago. We are seeking a versatile software engineer to join our small, highly capable global technology team. This is a deliberately broad role spanning pricing and risk analytics, data infrastructure, and the back-office systems the business runs on - we're looking for range rather than deep specialisation in any one area. This is an on-site role based in either our London or Frankfurt office.

What You'll Do
  • Develop the data pipelines and analytics that turn our pricing and risk models into the numbers our traders rely on, including volatility surfaces, PnL, and Greeks.
  • Build distributed, high-performance systems using industry-standard open-source technologies.
  • Build and improve back-office systems and workflows, including trade reconciliation, PnL analysis, regulatory reporting, and operational processes.
  • Collaborate closely with traders, quantitative researchers, and engineers to take ideas from prototype through to reliable production services.
What We're Looking For
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or another quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • The ability to write clean, maintainable code, supported by some experience developing real-world software.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to learn whichever language or technology a task requires. We use Python extensively, but care more about how you think than what you already know.
  • Confidence working with data and investigating performance, reliability, or data-quality issues.
  • An AI-native approach: you use modern AI tools thoughtfully to explore ideas, reason through problems, and work more effectively.
Nice to Have
  • Practical experience working with large datasets, columnar or Parquet-based data, and data-pipeline orchestration.
  • An understanding of options-pricing fundamentals, including Greeks, implied and local volatility, and volatility surfaces.
  • Experience with technologies such as Airflow, Metaflow, DuckDB, PyArrow, or distributed batch-compute frameworks.
  • Experience with C++, Rust, or Go; gRPC; or distributed-system design.
  • Experience building services backed by databases and running them in Kubernetes environments.
Our Interview Process

Our interview process is designed to give you the opportunity to solve interesting problems and work collaboratively with members of the team. It typically consists of an initial screening conversation followed by two or three technical and problem-solving interviews.
