Oxford Knight is seeking a strong Software Engineer (Test) to join a market‑making platform in London. You will build Python‑first frameworks and C++‑adjacent hooks to verify distributed systems, accelerate CI/CD, and protect latency‑sensitive releases across asset classes.

You’ll work with a highly collaborative team, read/modify C++ test code, and contribute to observability, testing reliability, and performance testing in a fast‑paced trading environment.

Qualifications

• Expert Python skills for production‑grade automation.
• Read/modify C++ test code and hook Python harnesses into C++ components.
• Strong Linux and networking fundamentals (TCP/UDP, sockets, pcap/Wireshark).
• CI/CD experience (Jenkins/GitHub Actions, Git, CMake); containerized, reproducible test environments.
• Hands‑on design of performance/reliability tests (latency, throughput) and flaky‑test triage.
• FIX engine experience (QuickFIX or proprietary), exchange simulators, OMS/EMS flows, DMA/algos.
• Observability for tests (Prometheus/Grafana/Jaeger/Tempo; log correlation).

Fantastic opportunity for a strong software engineer to gain experience in market‑making at a globally successful firm. This role offers the opportunity to modernize the infrastructure underpinning the critical platform that powers the firm’s client‑facing businesses.

This client platform supports connectivity, order management, and analytics across multiple asset classes, and you’ll contribute to its transformation by building Python‑first frameworks and C++‑adjacent hooks to verify distributed systems correctness, accelerate CI/CD, and protect latency‑sensitive releases across equities (cash/options) and beyond.

The successful candidate will be an outstanding communicator with a proven ownership mindset; comfortable debugging unfamiliar systems, writing documentation, and driving cross‑team initiatives.

Requirements

• Expert Python skills for production‑grade automation
• Ability to read/modify C++ test code and hook Python harnesses into C++ components
• Strong Linux and networking fundamentals (TCP/UDP, sockets, pcap/Wireshark)
• CI/CD experience (Jenkins/GitHub Actions, Git, CMake); containerized, reproducible test environments
• Hands‑on design of performance/reliability tests (latency, throughput, backpressure) and flaky‑test triage
• FIX engine experience (QuickFIX or proprietary), exchange simulators, OMS/EMS flows, DMA/algos, drop copy
• Observability for tests (Prometheus/Grafana/Jaeger/Tempo; log correlation)
