Hitachi Vantara Corporation in London is seeking a Software Engineer to join our permanent feature team. You’ll design, build, test and deploy software across the system lifecycle, applying Agile methods and delivering resilient, scalable services using Spring Boot microservices and Kafka.

You’ll work on cloud-native deployments with continuous deployment practices, mentor peers, and contribute to an engineering culture that values autonomy and product outcomes.

• You’ll bring strong experience of working with Continuous Deployment practices in production environments.
• You’ll have experience building and operating cloud native services using technologies such as Spring Boot, with automation as a core engineering principle.
• You’ll be comfortable designing and delivering robust, scalable and resilient distributed systems, with a strong focus on reliability, observability and operational excellence.
• Exposure to agentic coding practices where it adds value would be hugely beneficial.
• You’ll also need experience with robust, resilient distributed systems, RESTful APIs at scale, event-driven architectures, autonomy and team empowerment.
• You’ll be operating in distributed, cloud native environments with complex failure modes and mentoring peers.

Working in a permanent feature team, you’ll be developing knowledge of aspects of the associated platform across the disciplines of business, applications, data and infrastructure. You’ll also be liaising with principal engineers, architects in the domain and other key stakeholders to understand how the platform works and how it supports business objectives.

You’ll also be:

• Applying Agile methods to the development of software on the backlog
• Producing resilient and long-lived software and acting flexibly to cope with future needs
• Delivering intentional architecture and formulating emergent design through innovative ideas, experimentation and prototyping
• Designing and developing software with a focus on the automation of build, test and deployment activities, using executable patterns

• Strong experience building robust, resilient and defensively coded distributed systems, ideally leveraging technologies such as Kafka and an understanding of designing and operating RESTful APIs at scale, including versioning, observability, monitoring, and forward, backward compatibility
• Experience with event driven architectures, both orchestrated and choreographed is expected
• Experience working effectively in teams that value autonomy and empowerment, where engineering excellence is aligned to product outcomes
• Strong experience operating in distributed, cloud native environments with complex failure modes, requiring thoughtful approaches to system design and assurance
• Proven ability to coach and mentor other engineers, supporting the growth and capability of the wider team
