DEPARTMENT: BBC Product Group, Content & Content Metadata

LOCATION: Salford Dock House 1 day a week Hybrid

PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: up to £57,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

Purpose of the Role

The BBC is one of the UK's most well-known and loved brands. The iPlayer product teams build some of the BBC's most used and valued products. Our mission is to be the first place for anybody to go to watch BBC content. The iPlayer Catalogue (Video Content Catalogue) team is responsible for creating and maintaining content catalogues that powers consistent experience across the iPlayer product and partner platforms.

Your Skills and Experience

Essential Criteria:

  • Expertise designing, building and supporting modern back-end Cloud based applications using Typescript/JavaScript, NodeJS and AWS
  • Expertise in Cloud architecture and key technologies (CloudFormation, Lambda, SQS, S3, DynamoDB)
  • Expertise in modern development tools and practices (e.g. CI/CD, DevOps, Pair Programming, TDD)
  • Proven track record of building software solutions with consideration to product value and non-functional requirements (e.g. observability, maintainability and DevEx).
  • Developing software with scale, security and reliability in mind.

Desired:

  • Experience developing systems using microservices architecture
  • Experience developing systems using event driven architecture
