Job summary

Hargreaves Lansdown group is seeking Software Engineers to innovate on market-leading digital client journeys. You will build cloud-native applications in AWS using TypeScript and React, and manage infrastructure as code. You’ll write secure, tested code and contribute to robust CI/CD pipelines.

You’ll work within an agile team, collaborating across disciplines, documenting solutions, and mentoring peers while continuously improving performance, security, and reliability.

Qualifications

• Proven experience building modern web apps using TypeScript, React and Node.js.
• Experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and IaC tooling.
• Familiarity with testing approaches (unit/integration/e2e) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Understanding of microservices, RESTful APIs and event-driven architectures.
• Attention to accessibility standards (WCAG).
• Strong collaboration, code reviews and documentation skills.

HL are looking for a talented Software Engineers to work on one of our Investment Growth product engineering teams in building market-leading solutions for our clients.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality digital client journeys.

• Develop AWS Cloud-native applications with TypeScript and React and manage them using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

• Write high-quality, secure, tested and performant code.

• Create and maintain automated tests for new changes.

• Document all solutions according to team standards.

• Provide engineering support and maintenance for existing applications.

• Continuously develop your own technical and interpersonal skills, with a willingness to learn and adopt new technologies and techniques.

• Provide coaching & mentoring to peers.

• Advocate for continuous improvement in ways of working, quality, security, performance, and CI/CD processes.

• Cultivate strong working relationships within the squad and across the organisation.

• Engage in working groups and communities of practice to support the development team.

Skills

• Professional experience with TypeScript, React and Node, and with the use of IaC tools such as Terraform.

• Familiarity with product development for cloud environments such as AWS, Azure or GCP, and related technologies (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker and serverless).

• Experience with unit, integration, and end-to-end testing tools and practices (e.g. Jest, Cypress, Backstop, Playwright).

• Experience with CI/CD and Trunk Based Development.

• Experience with observability tools and practices, including monitoring, logging, and tracing to ensure system reliability and performance.

• Understanding of Microservices & principles of RESTful API development, including structuring, documenting, versioning, testing and stubbing/mocking.

• Understanding of Event Driven Architecture.

• Understanding of databases technologies and how to work with them, including document, relational and data platform tools.

• Familiarity with WCAG accessibility standards.

• Awareness of website performance implications, best practices and other non-functional requirements.

• Proficient in collaborative code reviews, technical documentation, and advocating for excellent development practices to optimize for rapid and continuous delivery of client value within an Agile framework.
