Elsevier is seeking a Software Engineer III (Java & JavaScript) to design, develop, and scale high-performance applications within the Identity & Access Management team. You will contribute to an identity platform integrated with providers and downstream APIs on AWS, working in an Agile environment with a focus on code quality and AI-assisted development tools.
The role requires strong skills in Java, JavaScript, CI/CD, and experience with identity providers such as Keycloak or Auth0.

You will join the Identity & Access Management team, which owns the authentication and authorisation infrastructure underpinning Elsevier’s global product suite.
We build and operate a highly available identity platform that integrates with multiple identity providers, entitlement services, and downstream APIs, running on AWS ECS and EKS.
This position performs moderately difficult research, design, and software development assignments within a specific software functional area or product line. The candidate should have the ability to work on individual pieces of work and solve problems, including the design of the program flow of individual pieces of code, effective coding, and unit testing.
The ideal candidate has a practical understanding of CI/CD pipelines and a strong commitment to code quality, testing, and collaborating in an Agile environment. Fluency with GitHub workflows and pull-request-based collaboration is essential.
