Job summary

Neo4j, Inc. is building a high-performance cloud platform for graph algorithms and machine learning. As a Developer, you will bridge cloud infrastructure, backend services, and client code, contributing to telemetry, data transfer, and developer UX improvements.

You will write Java, Go, and Python, improve observability, and collaborate with teams to ensure interoperability with the core database; remote-first, distributed team.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Computer Science or 3+ years of software engineering experience.
• Interest in JVM languages or system programming languages (C/C++, Rust) and willingness to learn Java, Go, Python.
• Experience with Kubernetes and cloud computing.
• Familiarity with graph theory.
• Ability to collaborate in a distributed, remote-first team.

Responsibilities

• Improve Neo4j’s Graph Data Science platform, focusing on integrations in Neo4j Aura.
• Write new features bridging the gap between on-premise and cloud solutions.
• Write Java, Go and Python code with a focus on usability, efficiency, and scalability.
• Work on and improve the observability of cloud systems.
• Collaborate with a skilled, motivated engineering team.
• Identify and integrate new research areas to solve complex customer problems.

As a Developer on our team, you will sit at the intersection of our entire platform ecosystem. You will gain hands-on experience bridging cloud infrastructure, robust backend services, and user-facing client code. In this role, you will actively contribute to:

• Telemetry & User Observability: Building tools and metrics that give users clear insights into platform health and job execution.
• Data Transfer & Performance: Optimizing pipelines for seamless data ingestion and streaming between client environments and our cloud backend.
• Developer UX Improvements: Refining client interfaces and integration points to ensure our platform is intuitive, fast, and easy to adopt.

What You'll do:

• Improve Neo4j’s Graph Data Science platform, focusing on its integrations in Neo4j Aura
• Write new features that bridge the gap between on-premise and cloud solutions
• Write Java, Go and Python code with a strong focus on usability, efficiency, and scalability
• Work on and improve the observability of our cloud systems
• Work in a highly collaborative and friendly team of skilled and motivated engineers
• Identify and integrate new areas of research that can solve our customers’ most difficult problems
• Partner with software engineers from other teams in Neo4j to ensure interoperability with the core database

What You’ll Bring:
