Job description

Our Mission

At Omnea, we’re reinventing how enterprise businesses operate, starting with the most painful parts: procurement – where a single purchase can drag on for months, trigger 50+ emails, and pull in Finance, Legal, Security, and IT just to get something approved.

We’ve raised $75M from Khosla Ventures, Insight Partners, and Accel to change that. Our AI-native platform connects every person, step, and system so buying is fast, safe, and efficient – one place to request, automated approvals and renewals, real-time supplier risk, and complete spend visibility.

The opportunity is massive. Every enterprise on the planet has this problem and nobody has solved it. We’ve 10x’d ARR to double-digit millions in 18 months and are trusted by global enterprises like Spotify, MongoDB, Monzo, and Albertsons. We’re now the 4th fastest growing startup in Europe & the Sunday Times' #1 Best Medium Sized Tech Company To Work for.

Our team previously scaled Tessian (cybersecurity tech, backed by Sequoia, Balderton, Accel, acquired post-Series C), and our team includes ex-founders operators who’ve grown unicorns, shipped world-class products, and executed at the highest levels. You’ll work alongside leaders like Ben, Abs, Sabrina, and Rebe.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for software engineers to join Engineering Acceleration, one of the teams in Omnea's Platform Engineering department, building the tools and infrastructure that help Omnea's engineers develop, test and ship software.

Engineering Acceleration develops and operates the systems that support AI-assisted software development: agent tooling, context management, development environments and automated validation. You'll work across application code and infrastructure, improving existing systems and building new capabilities.

You'll likely come from product or backend engineering, though developer tooling experience is a plus. What matters is strong software engineering ability, practical infrastructure experience and an interest in making other engineers more effective.

What You'll Do
  • Build systems for AI-native software engineering. Develop the tooling and infrastructure that enable engineers to delegate substantial engineering work to agents, spanning investigation, implementation, testing and code review. Improve the context, execution environments and feedback available to agents so they can complete increasingly complex tasks reliably.

  • Improve development and testing environments. Develop the infrastructure that allows engineers and agents to reproduce problems, run applications and verify changes. Improve development environments, previews and automated validation.

  • Evaluate quality and impact. Build evaluations for agent behaviour and test changes to context, tools and configuration against representative engineering tasks. Measure the effect on correctness, review effort, reliability and cost before wider rollout.

  • Identify and address engineering bottlenecks. Work with engineers across Omnea to identify friction in development, testing and delivery. Prioritise improvements based on their impact on engineering productivity and software quality, and measure the results.

  • Lead tooling selection and adoption. Assess emerging tools and make build-versus-buy decisions based on capability, integration effort and long‑term maintenance. Spearhead the selection and rollout of an agentic development platform (ADP), giving engineers a single interface for tooling and agent management.

  • Own systems through delivery and operation. Take responsibility for technical design, implementation, deployment and ongoing operation. Build for reliability and maintainability, with appropriate observability, access controls and recovery mechanisms.

What Can You Expect?
  • Join the team early. Help shape and invent how engineers and agents design, build and verify software at Omnea. You'll be an integral part of deciding the team's technical direction, develop new approaches and own projects from experimentation through to adoption across engineering.

  • Work directly with your users. You'll collaborate with Product engineers and the other Platform Engineering teams to understand their requirements and evaluate the impact of your work.

  • Work across the stack. Our stack includes TypeScript, React, Postgres and AWS serverless infrastructure, with SST, Pulumi, GitHub Actions and Datadog.

About You
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals. You have experience designing, shipping and operating production software. You bring sound judgement to system design, testing and reliability, and can diagnose failures across application and infrastructure boundaries.

  • Practical AWS serverless experience. You've built or maintained serverless infrastructure on AWS, deployment pipelines or development environments. You understand the trade-offs around access control, isolation, observability, reliability and cost.

  • Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development. You've applied coding agents to software development and understand their capabilities and failure modes. You have practical experience with the context, tools and verification needed to use them effectively.

  • Product engineering background. You've worked as a product engineer shipping user-facing features, and you bring that mindset to internal tooling. You can translate developer needs into well‑designed tools and services. You evaluate success through adoption, user feedback and measurable improvements to the development process.

  • Independent execution. You can scope ambiguous technical problems, assess alternatives and deliver projects without a detailed specification. You make considered trade‑offs between delivery speed, reliability and long‑term maintenance.

  • Effective collaboration. You communicate technical decisions and trade‑offs clearly, work constructively across team boundaries and incorporate feedback into your approach. You share knowledge and contribute to the engineering practices of the wider team.

At Omnea, we embrace diversity. To build a product that's loved by everyone, we're best served by a team with all sorts of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't quite match the full job spec! And regardless of your race, religion, colour, gender, or anything else! If you think you could be a good fit for Omnea, please reach out.

A few things to note:
