Job summary

AVEVA is seeking a Software Engineer to design, develop, and scale AI-enabled platform services and public APIs. You will work in a hybrid Cambridge-based role to deliver secure, cloud-native solutions that power AVEVA’s AI capabilities across products and partners.

The role focuses on building scalable services on Azure, with emphasis on API security, robust testing, and collaboration within an agile team across global R&D locations. A strong interest in modern AI patterns is a plus.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience, preferably in platform or cloud-native service development.
• Strong understanding of RESTful API design, versioning, testing, and lifecycle management.
• Proficiency in securing APIs, including authentication/authorization and data privacy practices.
• Hands-on experience deploying and debugging scalable cloud-native services using PaaS, Docker, and Kubernetes.

• Build scalable, fault-tolerant cloud-native services on Microsoft Azure, ensuring high performance and reliability.
• Develop and refine secure, well-documented public APIs and SDKs for consumption by internal and external developers using ASP.NET Core and C#.

The job

We are looking for a passionate Software Engineer to join our Core AI Services team. In this role, you will help design, develop, and scale AI-enabling platform services and public APIs that are secure, reliable, and cloud-native. These services will act as foundational building blocks for AI adoption across AVEVA’s product portfolio and partner ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

Essential requirements

• Minimum of 2 years professional experience in software engineering, preferably in platform or cloud-native service development, Microsoft and .NET technologies a plus.

• Solid understanding of RESTful API design, versioning, testing, and lifecycle management.

• Proficient in securing APIs, managing authentication/authorization and data privacy practices.

• Practical experience deploying and debugging scalable cloud-native services using PaaS, Docker, and Kubernetes.

• Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex technical challenges and propose scalable solutions.

Desired skills and competencies

• Interest or exposure to Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), agent orchestration, prompt engineering, and tool calling.

• Familiarity with AI standards such as Model Context Protocol (MCP) and Agent2Agent (A2A).

• Experience with tools for automated testing and evaluation of AI outputs

• Experience working in Agile teams and collaborating across global R&D locations

Hybrid working
