Job summary

Ashdown Group is recruiting a C++ Software Engineer for a client in the Aviation and Military sector. The role starts at the South West London site and moves to a hybrid pattern with 1–2 days office-based.

You will join a team delivering messaging products in critical environments, adding features, debugging issues, and enhancing protocol and security capabilities while evolving with newer programming languages.

Qualifications

• A degree in Computer engineering or IT related subject would be desirable.
• Solid commercial software development experience using C++.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and debug problems.
• Knowledge of messaging technologies would be beneficial.
• Experience with standards-based protocol implementations.
• Experience with networking and networking protocols.
• Lots of initiative and ability to work autonomously.

Responsibilities

• Add new features and extend capabilities to meet standards and client requirements.
• Debug client-reported issues and improve code base and product delivery over time.
• Work with servers, gateways and protocol bridges.
• Elevate security capabilities and improve system delivery and maintenance of products.
• Collaborate with the wider team to adopt newer programming languages.

Job description

Our client, a well-regarded software solutions company within the Aviation and Military sector, are looking to expand their engineering team and seeking a C++ Software Engineer. This is an opportunity to be part of a trusted team that values innovation, ownership and collaboration and expand your knowledge, within a stimulating environment. The role will initially be based at the company's site in South West London and then move to a hybrid pattern with 1/2 days office based.

You will be joining a team of engineers who are experts in their field and passionate about what they do. Working with the company's well established messaging products, which are deployed in critical environments, ensuring compatibility across multiple protocols and legacy systems.

This would be ideal for someone who really enjoys getting to grips with how systems work and wants to contribute to solving complex engineering problems. The following tasks are not exhaustive but will give you a good indication of what will be involved which will include:

Adding new features and extending capabilities in response to new standards and client requirements. Debugging clients reported issues and improving code base and product delivery over time. Working with servers. gateways and protocol bridges. Elevating security capabilities and improving system delivery and maintenance of products. Working with the wider team to further enhance products and contribute to the adoption of newer programming languages.

The successful candidate will:

• A degree in Computer engineering or IT related subject would be desirable
