Job summary

Google is seeking a skilled Android Engineer to join its Digital Wellbeing initiative in London. You will develop high-performance Android experiences using Kotlin/Java, integrating on-device ML and AI features to help users manage attention and digital habits.

Collaborate with UX, Data Science, and Privacy teams to craft platform-wide experiences, and drive early-stage prototyping and architecture reviews while delivering robust, scalable software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g. Java).
• Experience with Android development.

Responsibilities

• Develop intuitive, high-performance user experiences on a 1P app using Kotlin/Java and modern Android UI frameworks.
• Integrate on-device ML and generative AI solutions to deliver proactive and delightful user experiences.
• Translate complex behavioral, psychological, and human challenges into intuitive, robust, privacy-preserving system-level engineering solutions.
• Collaborate with global partners across UX Design, UX Research, Data Science, and Privacy. Work with core Android teams to deliver cohesive, platform-wide experiences.
• Lead rapid prototyping, framework experiments, and technical architecture reviews during early-stage product exploration.
• Write clean, efficient, maintainable code across the stack and participate in design reviews and agile processes.

• Collaborate deeply with global partners across UX Design, UX Research, Data Science, and Privacy. Work closely with core Android teams in the US and the Kids and Families team to deliver cohesive, platform-wide experiences.
• Lead rapid prototyping, framework experiments, and technical architecture reviews during early-stage product exploration, steering ideas smoothly from concept through global ecosystem-wide launch.
• Write clean, efficient, maintainable, and well-tested code across the stack. Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and agile development processes to maintain engineering excellence.

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g. Java).
• Experience with Android development.

Preferred qualifications:
