However, you will be required to be available for our quarterly planning meetings, which will take place at our offices in Bristol or Plymouth.

About The Role

Reporting to the Head of Software Engineering, this is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled and forward-thinking Software Engineer to play a key role in designing, building, and managing cutting-edge software platforms and systems—both cloud-based and on-premise.

You'll be at the heart of our development operations, driving automation, performance optimisation, and resilience across diverse environments. From SaaS platforms to internal tooling, your work will ensure our systems are scalable, secure, and aligned with industry best practices.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, enjoys solving complex technical challenges, and is passionate about delivering high-quality, reliable software solutions.

What You'll Do
  • Design and deploy scalable, high-performance software that aligns with the company's long-term operational and business goals.
  • Monitor, analyse, and enhance the performance and reliability of large-scale distributed software platforms to ensure continuous uptime and efficiency.
  • Develop automation solutions for configuration management, system provisioning, and deployment to streamline operations and reduce manual interventions.
  • Implement and maintain security protocols, ensuring software is compliant with regulatory standards and best practices, including data encryption, access control, and vulnerability management.
  • Lead the resolution of platform outages or performance degradation issues, conducting root cause analysis and implementing preventive measures.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including QA engineering, DevOps, and IT
About You
  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP
  • Experience with containerisation, automation, and orchestration tools
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologies
  • Proficient in scripting languages: Python, Bash, PowerShell
  • Skilled in test-driven and behaviour-driven development practices
  • Deep understanding of distributed systems, network architecture, storage, and compute resource management
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex systems and perform root cause analysis
  • Expertise in security frameworks and compliance standards (e.g. ISO27001, NIST, GDPR)
  • Proficient with monitoring and logging tools: Splunk, Grafana, ELK stack
What You'll Get

A competitive salary between £57,000 - £67,000 - dependent on capability

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%. You will also have access to a number of flexible benefits such as a share incentive plan, salary sacrifice car and technology schemes, support via employee assistance lines and matched charity giving to name a few.
