Software Engineer

Birmingham (Hybrid - minimum 2 days a week on site)

We're looking for a talented Software Engineer to join our growing Digital & Technology team. In this role, you'll help shape, design and deliver back-of-house technology solutions that power our business. Working closely with stakeholders, product managers, and engineering colleagues, you'll be involved in everything from building new products to maintaining and improving existing systems.

What you'll do

• Design and build secure, robust, and user-focused software products and solutions.
• Develop across both server and client-side stacks, using low code/no code platforms where required.
• Maintain and improve existing products, resolving live support issues and bugs quickly.
• Work flexibly across waterfall and agile methodologies to deliver high-quality solutions.

What we're looking for

• Proven experience as a software engineer, ideally with 5+ years' experience.
• Strong knowledge of server-side technologies (Coldfusion, PHP, Java) and client-side technologies (HTML, CSS).
• Experience with version control tools (Git, Subversion) and relational databases (MySQL, SQL Server).
• Clear communicator with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.
• Problem-solver with strong analytical skills and a proactive approach.
• Familiarity with agile tools such as Jira, Confluence, GitHub, or Azure DevOps.

Bonus points if you have

• Experience with JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue, Angular, jQuery).
• Knowledge of server-side frameworks (Laravel, Coldbox).
• Understanding of UX, accessibility standards, and responsive design.
• Background in B2B or SaaS environments and system integrations.
